I, the undersigned, acknowledge that hiking and outdoor activities involve inherent risks and dangers that may result in personal injury, illness, property damage, or death. These risks may include, but are not limited to, uneven terrain, weather conditions, natural hazards, wildlife, remoteness, accidents, illness, and the negligence of others.
I voluntarily choose to participate in activities organized or facilitated by St. John's Hike Club (the club). I assume all risks associated with my participation, including travel to and from the activity.
In consideration of being permitted to participate, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue St. John's Hike Club, its directors, officers, organizers, leaders, volunteers, and members from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or death that may be sustained by me in connection with my participation, except to the extent caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
I understand that it is my responsibility to assess my own fitness and ability to participate. I agree to follow all instructions and safety guidelines provided by the club leaders.
This waiver shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and shall remain in effect for all activities I participate in with the club.
